Why can't I attach this file?

Last updated on Jul 24, 2026

If Vinci won't let you attach a file, it's almost certainly hitting one of two limits. Here's what they are and what to do.

File size limit

Each file you attach must be 8 MB or smaller. If your file is larger, you need to split it or trim it down:

  • For documents: if it's a large PDF, try splitting it in half and attaching each part in separate messages.
  • For images or media: compress them before uploading. Most image tools let you reduce resolution or quality to shrink the file size.
  • For code files: if a single file is too large, paste just the relevant section into the message instead of attaching it.

File count limit

You can attach up to 5 files per message. If you need to send more, split them across multiple messages.

Very image-heavy PDFs

If you're attaching a PDF that's mostly images (like a scanned book), Vinci might not read all the content correctly. If that happens, copy the relevant text directly into your message instead of uploading the file — it usually works better.

Files are never stored

Whatever you attach is processed in the moment and then deleted — Vinci doesn't keep files on our servers. See Using the app for details on what file types work best.

Still having trouble?

If the file is under 8 MB, you have 5 or fewer files, and the upload still fails, contact support with the file type and size you're trying to attach.
